2018 Salt Lake Parade of Homes by Utah Media Group

The master bedroom in the Lafferty Homes home had a beautiful modern trimmed grid wall painted in the prettiest shade of gray/green. I’m still trying to confirm this paint color and will add it here as soon as I find out. One of my favorite homes in this year’s parade was an incredible modern farmhouse built by Bradshaw Homes and Properties and designed by The Black Goose Design. I just returned from a week in Salt Lake and I’m so excited to share a recap of the 2018 Salt Lake City Parade of Homes.

We didn’t see a lot of open shelving in many of the kitchens of the parade homes but the Brinton home had combination open and closed shelving. It was very interesting that most of the kitchens this year had total enclosed cabinet kitchens and we saw very little open kitchen shelving. I personally like to see a combination in a kitchen but it was just an observation that the total open kitchen shelving trend may be moving back to closed. Also another trend still going strong that we saw in most of the parade homes are sliding barn doors. I don’t see this trend ending anytime soon because it’s so beautiful and functional. Will you please tell me the name of the floors in the living room !?

Off the kitchen was the cutest little breakfast/kids nook area with beautiful open shelving for toys, books, etc.. Get the latest local design trends delivered straight to your inbox. Speaking of mirrors, they’re popping up in some unexpected places. Reflective furniture like the dresser above make spaces appear bigger, while adding serious flair to the décor. Love the greywahnkitchen chairs in the Bradshaw home. Remodeling my kitchen and would love to know where I can purchase them.

Unfortunately, this year’s parade was a lot smaller than last year’s. Even though there were less builder’s participating, we loved the homes and still found plenty of beautiful design ideas and inspiration to share with you. We also met with builders to identify trends and also see newly constructed homes/model homes that we’ll be sharing with you guys over the next few weeks! By the way, this post is “Part 1” of the SLC Parade recap and you can find “Part 2” here. We will be sharing more from Oakwoods Homes in the coming weeks because they had five beautiful model homes in addition to their parade home. There were so many great design ideas in these home that I’m going to dedicate a full post to these homes.

The office in this home was painted a dreamy shade of gray/blue/green. This trend is such a beautiful and fairly easy way to add drama to a space without having to tackle a whole room. Just like our last Parade of Homes piece, hexagon, penny and tile of all shapes and sizes comes together to bring nostalgia and charm to every unique bathroom floor.

Small marbled tiles in the Brinton by Alice Lane and Ivory Homes ups the updated classic vibe of this simple bathroom. Moodiness is at an all-time high in interiors implementing these smoky mirrors. Antiqued mirrors are a great fit for darker themes, or to ease up the brightness of colorful rooms. This bathroom appears in the Brinton at Watson Hollow by Ivory Homes and Alice Lane Interiors. These measures will be updated as we get closer to the event dates to follow the most current guidelines shared by our local health departments and government leaders.

With breathtaking views to the Wasatch Mountains this uniquely styled craftsman design lies in the exclusive, new Banbury Estates. The timeless appeal of natural stone, mixed shingle and lap siding presents a nuance of contemporary air set in luxurious styling. Optimized for family life and designed with entertainment in mind with the beauty and talent of The Black Goose Design. The office in The Building Group Home was to the right as you walked in and it was absolutely stunning. Again we see another stunning accent wall painted in a deep dark color . The master bedroom in the Oakwood home had that rich dark painted focal wall that I mentioned that I have been seeing so much of this great design idea.

The wall color is Benjamin Moore Kendall Charcoal. In the landing den area, they used a modern farmhouse board and batten type wall treatment and I loved it mixed with this beautiful painting. I can’t wait to share more of the Magleby Homes with you guys next week! Both homes were so inspiring and Simons Design Studio did an amazing job with the design work.

Unique accent wall treatments were another big trend we saw throughout the parade. Many of these walls were either modern trim grid patterns, board and batten or darkly painted shiplap accent walls like the one I saw in the Wright Homes house below. One of our favorite homes in this year’s parade was called the “Pablo”, which was built by Regal Homes. This home was a beautifully open and designed 5,600 square foot that we really loved!

The kitchen in the Bradshaw home was also one of my favorite kitchens on the tour. I especially loved the layout and the beautiful oak floors. After you’ve toured the Pablo and explored Giverny, you’ll understand why our current homeowners are as happy as can be.

Most of the homes in the parade had open kitchens but I thought the Oakwood home really was open in such a functional way that was very well designed and smart. In the stunning Picasso section of our Giverny community, the Pablo model has 5 bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, and 4,068 square feet of wide open space to make your own. You can choose from 2 different elevation options, with a price range between $825,000-$828,000. This single family home reflects our promise of high-quality and innovation for each and every Regal home we build. The basement was completely finished and had a stunning bar/kitchenette painted in the same rich blue cabinetry color as the office. I am still trying to confirm this color but I’m pretty sure it’s Benjamin Moore Hale Navy.
